This church is built on the site of an ancient monastery. It is reputed to be a place where the young St.David spent part of his childhood.
Nothing now remains of the earliest church on the site. The sole monument from the early Christian period is the stone enscribed TIGEIRN.
In the nineteenth century a new church was built to serve the new town of Aberaeron. It was dedicated in 1875 and enlarged in 1900.
