The Lac d'Emosson is the second largest reservoir in Switzerland after the Lac des Dix (Grande Dixence). The 180m high arch dam keeps a secret that comes to light every spring when the water is low. There is already a dam wall in the reservoir from the 1920s. The SBB Barberine dam.To get to Lac d'Emosson, you can either go up by car or bus, or you can take a combination of three cable cars from the valley of "Le Châtelard" to the dam. Pure experience 👌🏻At the dam there is a spectacular zip line or a dizzying climbing wall directly at the dam for the daring. As a further attraction, above the Lac du Vieux Emosson, which is about 2.5 hours walk from Lac d’Emosson, there are well-preserved footprints of 250 million year old archosaurs.

The Lac d'Emosson is picturesquely situated between the mountain peaks Le Cheval Blanc, Pic de Tenneverge, Mont Ruan and Tour Sallière. The lake, which is dammed by an arch dam, is at an altitude of 1,930 meters. On the south-eastern shore of the lake you will find the Restaurant du Barrage d'Emosson, where you can fortify yourself and also sleep for the night.
