The building is a single-storey house for members of the lower middle class, built in three construction phases.

The core building in half-timbered with brick infills was built before 1840. (Eaves under the gable roof, on the left originally the gate entrance to the threshing floor, behind it probably a stable; living area with kitchen, behind it an up-chamber over a half-deep cellar)

The brick living area was expanded around 1910. In 1889, a small, massive extension was made to the business area, which served as a "detention facility". A day laborer was recorded as a resident for 1840. From 1889 the building served as a residence for the community police and as a "detention facility" and was used until the 1930s.

Its half-timbered walls, which go right through to the ground, show the typical construction of the granaries built in Altenberge. This old granary was dismantled by the Heimatverein in the Hohenhorst peasantry, renovated and rebuilt at Heimathues "Kittken" in the village.
