The Krause family's ostrich farm is located in the idyllic village of Dedeleben, near the Großer Bruch nature reserve.
Ostrich farmer Egbert Krause began this endeavor in 2005.
The "ostrich dad" cared for the chicks around the clock, providing them with fresh grass and dandelions since they are vegetarians.
Now that they are "grown up" and producing their own offspring, the "ostrich dad" only needs to intervene during difficult births.
The incubation period for ostriches lasts only six weeks and requires a constant temperature of 36.8 °C (97.8 °F).
