The former monitoring tower stands in the middle of the Upper Bavarian Forest nature reserve area. 290 steps lead to the 400 m² viewing platform at a height of 50 m. From there you have a wonderful view in all directions. The viewing platform can be reached after a short hike, either from the service hut about five kilometers away, where parking spaces are available, or from the chairlift summit station about one kilometer away.

Access to the service hut is on the road between Furth im Wald and Rimbach. The turnoff takes place in front of the village Madersdorf to the left.
A detour to the mountain house "Schönblick", below the mountain station, is worthwhile.

Fantastic view, the steps and the 6 € are worth it.
