WARNING: the upper view of Boyana waterfall is very dangerous! If you're not careful, you can fall from 25 meters! The view is tempting, and there is no railing so you can easily fall if you try to view the waterfall which is under you!
There is a nice view to Sofia, but the actual waterfall is under you so you can't view it (or you may fall from 25 meters trying to view it).
This view can be reached by Momina skala hut (from road to Golden bridges) - it is 20 minutes steep downhill. There is another path, from Kopitoto, it is longer but the track is more flat (it is not so popular and from time to time the path is lost so having a GPS will be useful).

Probably the most difficult Vitosha hike: from Boyana church to Boyana waterfalls through the unmarked path along Boyana creek.
Start as for the traditional, signposted path to Boyana lake and waterfalls, but immediately, just after about 50 meters, turn right, straight up the hill, along the left side of the white single level building, and continue above it and to the right, along the fence. There are no signs whatsoever.
The path soon becomes quite dangerous, especially when wet. It is steep, rocky, narrow and slippery with the creek deep down on your right hand side.
Absolutely not for children and dogs! Very good fitness level, mountain experience and sturdy hiking boots obligatory!
Hiking poles unnecessary, it is too steep.
There is a point right before the falls when it seems like it is the end of the path, but you have to climb over the boulder and will see the path continuing on the other side.
You will be able to reach the lower side of the falls in just about one hour.
