The Åry estate is closely linked to the ry ironworks, which has a long and interesting history and offers an insight into the Småland ironworks tradition. Swamp and sea ore served as raw material and was processed into bar iron in the blast furnace.

There was also a glassworks on the site for a short time. The sawmill operated until 1955, when it was converted into a chipboard factory, which operated until 1985.
