Porto Ceresio belongs to the province of Varese in Lombardy and is located at the western southern end of Lake Lugano. The topographical location of the municipality is interesting; the municipality extends on a slope from 210 to 955 meters above sea level. A little more than 3,000 inhabitants settle in this tranquil place, whose life and center is concentrated on the shore and the port area. Porto Ceresio was mentioned in writing as a fishing village as early as the 13th century. In the course of time, Italian parishes and administrative districts built various church and sacred buildings. Artists and sculptors also discovered the beauties of Porto Ceresio and made the place known as the place of origin of handicrafts and art of international standing.
