The Klammsee is a day storage facility with a volume of 200,000 m³ and is part of the Kaprun power plant. The Bürgsperre dam with a height of 19 m dams the Kapruner Ache and collects water from the Kaprun valley that is not recorded in the main stage of the power plant. Commissioning took place in 1947.
The Sigmund-Thun-Gorge lies below the barrier.
