    The parish is first mentioned in 1275 as "Hohenberg". The previous church came from this time. In 1347 the owners of Bartenstein (Krauchenwies) sold Hohenberg to the German Order in Altshausen. In the Thirty Years War the parish was abolished and looked after from Altshausen until 1720. In 1719 the Komptur Freiherr Johann Franz von Reinach rebuilt the church. His coat of arms, formerly on the church, can now be seen above the entrance to the rectory.
