Saint Pankratius, to whom the parish church in Braunenweiler is dedicated, has testified to his life. But because in his time the Christians in Rome were persecuted, his testimony became a martyrdom.

As the son of a distinguished family in present-day Turkey, he was raised by his uncle due to the early death of his parents. With about 13 years he moved with him to Rome. In a time of severe persecution of Christians, he wanted to use his inherited fortune for the persecuted Christians and help the captured.

Opposite a fountain (not drinking water) invites you to refresh yourself.

A parish church of St. Pankratius was first mentioned in a document in 1275. The current church building was originally a late Gothic building that was rebuilt in the second half of the 18th century and in 1883. In 1958/59 the church was extended to the south, renovated inside in 1981 and outside in 1993. It was renewed in 1997 after a fire.
