From 1764, a baroque garden was created on an area of around five hectares in connection with the construction of a new Haubarg: a four-row lime tree quarter was planted in front of the front side of the house, and two linden tree avenues, more than 120 meters long, framed the formal garden made up of 10 quarters. The main axis was emphasized by three linden arbors, which were located at the intersection of the cross and longitudinal paths. In 1837 Hans Richardsen (1792-1867) bought the house and garden. His son Jacob (1835-1905) took over the property in 1867, and had been married to Doris Bruchwitz since 1874.The Haubarg Hochdorf was placed under monument protection in 1979 after the master carpenter Christian Kempf had renovated the house in an exemplary manner.
