On the Yarra just below where the Merri Creek comes in, this was once a natural weir and river crossing used by the Wurundjeri. For Europeans, it was the furthest they could navigate up the river by boat. John Dight build a water mill there in 1841, hence its name. A fish ladder has now been installed to help migration. Its a favourite place for canoe slalom training.

Dights Falls is an artificial weir built on a natural rock bar across the Yarra. The weir was built in the 1840s to provide water to the 'Ceres' flour mill, one of the first in Victoria.
It is part of the Dights Falls Loop Trail. On this 4,2km trail you will discover the sites of the former 'Lunatic Asylum', the lookout over Galatea Point, the 'Greenlink, Yarra Bend' revegetation area, the former Deep Rock Swimming Club, the Koori Garden and Dights Falls.
