Elephant Rock

The Elephant Rock is located near the town of Castelsardo. This rock formation in trachyte has indeed the shape of an elephant. A small cave has been created at the base of this rock and it can be assumed that it was to serve as a tomb some 2000 years ago. Stylized engravings of stars are easily seen in the cavity.

The Roccia dell'Elefante is located east of Castelsardo on a side road. It is a trachyte rock that has been shaped into an elephant by erosion.

A rock shaped by weathering, which was already a place of worship at the time of the Nuragher (1800 - 750 BC) and was used for the burial of the dead. A stylized star head can be seen in a niche.
