Very nice park just after downtown Genk. Perfect for getting out of Genk and off the streets.

Driving through the park is a perfect way to get out of or into the city center. You stay away from the streets here.

The Molenvijverpark is a park in Genk that is located between Molenstraat and Europalaan. It has an area of 15 hectares.
The park is located west of the Dorpsbeekvallei area, where the Dorpsbeek flows into the Molenvijver. This pond served as a buffer for the water mill located there. This village mill is now used as a catering facility. The interior was removed in 1930 and the current wheel is not original.
The swampy area was converted into the current park in 1967, during which the swamps were filled in and a second pond was dug. A large number of exotic conifers have been planted.
There are two memorial stones in the park. One marks the border between the concessions of the former mines of Waterschei and Winterslag. The other was placed on the occasion of the prize that Genk won in 1969 as a green city.
The Sundial Park is also of interest. In 2000, twelve special sundials were placed here. What the park looked like at the end of the nineteenth century can be seen in the painting by Joseph Coosemans, Swamp in Genck.
