Borgo Sant’Andrea is gently nestled on the southern slope of the last ring of hills in the Friulian morainic amphitheater, one of the region's most evocative natural and cultural landscapes, encompassing the entire plain below, up to the hill of Santa Margherita del Gruagno.

These hills are formed by deposits from the last glaciation, in the Quaternary period; the land is rich in water and fertile soil, dotted with small woods, flora, and wildlife.

Legend has it that an ancient lake once stood in the plain below, now extinct. Traces of this lake remain in areas of permanent wet meadows and in natural springs, which give rise to a fascinating system of small streams and "lavie," true natural and environmental paradises. This landscape and setting are strikingly beautiful and similar to the most famous Italian and French wine regions.
