H. C. Andersen (born April 2, 1805 in Odense, died August 4, 1875 in Copenhagen) was a Danish poet and writer who is world-famous for his fairy tales.

In H. C. Andersen's diaries he tells of several hikes in the area around Silkeborg - among other things. to Himmelbjerget. For example, on May 30, 1850, he wrote about the beautiful view from Himmelbjerget over the Gudenåen and on to Silkeborg.
