Every old tree will eventually die.
But before that, the tree has been home for decades to many forest dwellers who can only live in trees that old.
But if you castrate a tree like this, it can no longer store food and dies within a short time.
Then, miraculously, it has to be felled because it represents a "danger", which is how a natural monument can be destroyed.
