Hiking
Manzù was born the twelfth of 14 children into a family of shoemakers and sacristans.
Politically, Manzù was in the resistance during fascism and later remained a communist.
Since the 1950s, two themes have dominated his work like opposite poles: young, graceful female bodies in light, floating and dancing postures and strict cardinals, surrounded by liturgical regalia, immobile in shape and face.
