Planned in the year 1920 as a reservoir and built 1921 to 1922 was the Kirnbergsee for the purpose of power generation. The fact that a remarkable nature reserve was created is an extremely welcome achievement. In the years 1999 to 2000, the dam was completely and with great financial effort rehabilitated. Thus, the future of the beautifully situated Kirnbergsee was secured.
