Jacob Andresen Siemens (born December 29, 1794 in Heligoland, † September 19, 1848 in London) was the founder of the seaside resort of Heligoland.
Siemens was arrested for insults he had voiced against the then English governor of the island. As a deposit for his release, his shares were pledged at the seaside resort Helgoland.
This deposit should be repaid if he voluntarily left the island forever. He renounced it and stayed on his home island.
