The St. Martin branch church with its cemetery in Göflan is one of the oldest Christian places of worship in Vinschgau. The origins of the church go back well into the first millennium. A first documentary mention dates from 1212, a choir screen fragment made of white marble, which was excavated east of the church and now adorns the stairway to the gallery, refers to the early Middle Ages.

The very special charm of this quiet place high above Göflan has to be trampled through an agonizingly steep ascent.
