The Germaniahafen is located south of the famous Hörn bascule bridge and is the last port before the end of the Kiel Fjord.

The non-profit association Museumshafen Kiel e.V. has existed since 2004 and has since operated a traditional port in the Germania basin of the port of Kiel.

Traditional sailing ships and historic watercraft are located here, which were used for coastal shipping in Northern Europe in previous centuries.

The colorful picture ranges from small coastal fishing boats to the large and well-traveled Marstal schooners. The ships should not be firmly “on the chain”, but should serve their purpose as traditional sailing ships.

Through the coming and going of the ships, as well as the work of the crews and owners on their ships, the visitor is always presented with a lively port.

Among the ships is the “Sampo”, built in Kiel in 1896, the English oystercatcher “Mildred”, our fastest ship and our “Zuversicht”, a Marstal schooner built in 1905 in Nyborg in Denmark.
