The history of today's memorial goes back to the early 18th century. At that time there were plans for the design of the alluvial slope, which envisaged several terrace gardens along today's Schöne Aussicht. In the center there should be an imposing garden peppered with water features, which had already been created around 1710/1720. It belonged to a palace on the Schöne Aussicht that was owned by Prince George from 1730. Georg was a son of Landgrave Carl. While the plans for further terrace gardens were never implemented, the "Prinz-Georg-Garten" and its four terraces have remained almost unchanged to this day.
