The Plauer See is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District, a water landscape formed during the Ice Age. It has a north-south extension of about 15 kilometers and an average depth of 6.8 meters, the deepest point is 25.5 meters. With its wide, natural shores and quiet bays, the lake offers a safe home for ospreys, sea eagles, snipes, reed warblers, kingfishers, pendulum tits, cranes, gray shrikes, bitterns, otters, hermits and bellied nappy snails.
