The Catholic parish church of St. Paul, also called Paulskirche, is the first parish church in Ludwigsvorstadt in Munich. It was built in the neo-Gothic style from 1892 to 1906 according to plans by Georg von Hauberrisser. With the 97 meter high east tower, St. Paul is not only one of the tallest, but also one of the mightiest churches in Munich, along with the Liebfrauendom.

This Munich church was dedicated to Saint Paul. He was initially an opponent of the Christian movement and was not called to the apostleship by Jesus Christ during his lifetime like the other apostles, but was only converted later with the famous "Damascus experience" (see Acts, Chapter 9).
His attribute, with which he is usually depicted in paintings or as a statue, is the sword with which he was executed. According to Roman law at the time, such a sentence was a “privilege” (quick death and not associated with a long, painful agony like other types of execution) that the citizens of Rome were entitled to.
Peter (Peter), together with Paul, is also known as the "Prince of the Apostles", their common memorial day in the saints' calendar is June 29th.

The Catholic church was built in neo-Gothic style between 1892 and 1906 according to plans by Georg Ritter von Hauberrisser, who also planned the New Town Hall on Marienplatz. With its 97 meter high main tower, the Paulskirche near the Theresienwiese is one of the tallest sacred buildings in Munich. The tower is open for the Oktoberfest. In 1960 a plane grazed the main tower and crashed. 52 people died.
