    Inaugurated in 1970, the El Pardo dam was built to regulate the contributions of the

    intermediate basin between this and the Manzanares el Real reservoir (Santillana Dam).

    Upstream of the dam rises the intake tower, from where the bottom drains start. Said tower is connected to a control gallery through which the two drain pipes run. These end in two hollow jet valves to regulate the flow of the Manzanares River.
