Tierpark Lohberg is the only zoo in the Upper Palatinate and attracts numerous visitors every year. Here you will find over 400 animals of the Bavarian-Bohemian border area with about 100 species in natural surroundings.

At the foot of the Großer Arber on the Bavarian-Bohemian border area lies the Bayerwald Tierpark Lohberg. A walk through the zoo to see wolves, bison, lynx, eagles, owls and many other around 400 animal species that you can visit. The zoo is a real experience for children to see the animals up close. There is no boredom for the little ones, as there is also a children's playground with various devices such as swings and carousels, which are free of charge.

Fine, not too large zoo in Lohberg; Even if the animal enclosures offer the most beautiful enclosures in the Bavarian Forest, you should give the Bayerwald Zoo a chance. The paths are sometimes quite steep and in winter some paths are not cleared.

Small beautifully landscaped zoo. Admission for adults 6 euros. From Lohberghütte also drives a tourist train several times a day to the small Arbersee.

small but fine animal park. One should not have been in one of the animal free areas before, otherwise one is disappointed by the enclosures; in winter not all paths are cleared.

In particular, the view of the wolves is definitely worth a trip!

The Bayerwald-Tierpark Lohberg was created in one of the most beautiful regions of the Bavarian Forest between Osser and Arber. The species-appropriate enclosures fit seamlessly into the natural wooded areas with old trees, streams and swamp areas. An attempt has been made here to depict a natural forest of broken, dead and rotting wood with small biotopes on a small area.

In the naturally designed enclosures live animals whose habitat is old, natural forests: wolves, lynxes, wildcats, otters, elks, reindeer, a herd of bison, capercaillie, griffon vultures, owls, woodpeckers and small birds, arctic hares, snakes and much more.

The life of the local animal world usually takes place in secret. Many animals only become active at dusk or at night or are very good at hiding. The number of many wild animals in the wild has also declined significantly due to habitat destruction and environmental pollution.

A very nice destination with a petting zoo and a small playground; our children had a blast here. Most of the enclosures are also nice and large.

During peak season, however, parking is very limited, so it's best to arrive early or plan on walking a bit.

One of our absolute favorite zoos! Dogs are allowed (on a leash). The park and animal enclosures are so lovingly designed, as is the quaint kiosk, which serves delicious and affordable food and drinks. You can learn a lot about the local species and get very close to the animals.

Sturdy shoes and binoculars are highly recommended here.
