The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium (officially until 2001, the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium) is a municipally owned sports venue located on the Montjuic mountain in the Sants-Montjuïc district, in Barcelona, Spain.
The original stadium was inaugurated on May 20, 1929 by King Alfonso XIII, a day after the inauguration of the International Exhibition.2 On the occasion of the 1992 Olympic Games, the stadium was practically rebuilt in its entirety (1985- 1989), being reopened 60 years later as an «Olympic stadium», on September 8, 1989, by the also King Juan Carlos I
