The Fernerköpfl is a summit in the Rieserferner group above the Rieserferner hut. It lies between the Schneebiger Nock and the Magerstein. From the hut it is about 1 hour and 20 minutes and 450 meters of altitude on mostly well-marked and well-laid trails. As a day tour from the Reintal from the Sager parking lot over the Gell Valley, very long and exhausting but also very rewarding. Around 20km there and back and around 1700 meters in altitude. The paths are consistently superbly laid out and, apart from one point in a gully with remains of old snow on the actual summit of the Fernerköpfl, are also very well marked. In good weather the view extends over the Northern Dolomites, the main Alpine ridge from the Ötztaler Wildspitze to the Grossglockner. But what is most impressive is the view over large parts of the still large Rieserferner glacier.
