This is the more commonly ridden route up Ankerdine Hill, and is thankfully broken up by a few flat bits and the odd wide corner, but is otherwise a short sharp leg burner. It used to be common to find words of encouragement chalked along the road near the top. A nice route, but I can also recommend Easinghope Lane to the east as an alternative, more picturesque route to the top.
