The Bemmelerberg is a freely accessible nature reserve (poor limestone grassland with its specific flora) and has a wonderful geological outcrop. The marl wall - marl is a clay-limestone rock from the Cretaceous period - was probably used as a building material. Numerous houses in the area were built from this soft stone.
