Hirschhorn lies on a double loop of the Neckar and at the foot of the Odenwald slopes, crowned by a castle that can be seen from afar. The many half-timbered houses in the old town give the medieval town a romantic ambience. That is why the town is also called the "Pearl of the Neckar Valley".
The castle, built above the city on a mountain nose in the 12th century, belonged to the Lords of Hirschhorn, an important German knight family.
Several excursion destinations can also be reached by boat from Hirschhorn.

It is also worth stopping at the NEO 800 ° on the right side of the Neckar near the church on the Neckar - but only open from 5:00 p.m.

As far as I know, the term "Hirschhorn, pearl of the Neckar Valley" comes from former Federal President Heuss. Outside of his service time, he visited Hirschhorn several times. I was able to see him live as he wandered through the old town and signed his book.
