The church was built as a Dominican church from 1715-1730 in the Baroque style instead of a previous church from the 11th century.

The first written mention of a church dedicated to St. Vojtěch dates back to 1186. Originally a Romanesque church, it underwent Gothic and later extensive Baroque rebuilding. After the Hussite Wars, the church began celebrating communion here. After a fire in 1538, the destroyed building was rebuilt and re-roofed in 1555. The current church was built between 1704 and 1734, with the new building standing perpendicular to the older one. Construction was supervised by the Litoměřice Baroque architect Octavian Broggio. On the floor of the main façade are two niches with statues of St. Wenceslas and St. Ludmila. On the ground floor are statues of St. Dominic and St. Thomas Aquinas. The main portal is crowned by a statue of St. Vojtěch. The church's carved doors date from the early 1970s and were made by Miroslav Houra.
