The tanner as a figure in the fountain is intended to commemorate the tanners who lived in the Gelbinger Gasse in the Middle Ages. The figure has been on the fountain again since 2018. In 2016, unknown perpetrators tore her off the pedestal and threw her on the ground. It broke into about 50 pieces. At first it was said that the fountain figure had been irreparably destroyed. But then it was put back together by restorer Roman Legner. Since then, the tanner's apprentice has been able to work on the leather again with the scraper made of shell limestone.
