The Köhlerberg rises in the Eastern Hintertaunus and in the Taunus Nature Park. Its summit is 2.2 km north of the Waldsolmser Ortsteil Griedelbach, 1.3 km south-southeast of Oberwetz and 3 km east of Oberquembach, two districts of Schöffengrund; All three districts belong to the Lahn-Dill-Kreis. In the neighboring district Gießen lies 3.5 km southeast of the summit of the Langgöns district Cleeberg. The summit is located about 50 m south of the county boundary in Griedelbach counting area.
On the southeast slope of the mountain springs the Sauergrundbach and south of the Ebergrundbach, both of which flow to the Ackergrundbach and count to the catchment area of the Kleebachs.
