Today's Kaiserstrasse was built in 1777 by the German masters.
The new course has since gone over the mountain ranges.
Originally the route was from Mergentheim via Wachbach, Dörtel, Rot, Herbsthausen, Adolzhausen, Eichhof, Ermershausen, Zollhaus and then to Riedbach.
Customs were levied at the customs house because they were moving to a different territory.
The customs house belonged to Reichertswiesen and Riedbach.
The fall house belonged to a skinner. I.e. the skinner has recycled what was still usable from animal carcasses. E.g. the skins are dried in order to later turn them into leather.
It is clear that it stank extremely badly there. For this reason, the fall houses were built far from localities and as close as possible to the border to other territories. This also had the advantage that no rats were drawn into the villages.
