Counts of Truhendingen
The history of the castle can only be deduced from the documents from the 13th century, all claims about the previous time are purely speculative. The castle appears for the first time in 1269 in the possession of the Counts of Truhendingen, who had the castle managed by bailiffs, who took advantage of the lawless situation at the time through autocratic encroachments. The oldest court books of the imperial city of Rothenburg after 1274 testify to an almost endless chain of complaints about criminal offenses by the Colmberg officials before the local court, e.g. E.g. unpaid debts, broken guarantees, trespassing, robbery, false imprisonment, theft and arson. In the end, in 1293, it was not the Vogt in the town of Truhendingen that was outlawed, but the entire Colmberg Castle. Because the Counts of Truhendingen got into increasing financial difficulties, they parted with this badly reputed fortress, a robber baron's castle that can be documented. Colmberg was finally sold on July 13, 1318 together with the town of Leutershausen and the surrounding area for 6200 pounds (Swabian) Haller Pfennigs to the Burgrave Frederick IV of Nuremberg.
