The imposing, old city wall of the medieval town of Hillesheim dates from the 13th century and was very well renovated in the course of the city center renovation.
The fortification was first destroyed by the French in 1689, and then by the British Army in 1705.
So it took a few centuries until the present city wall with a few towers was repaired from the few remains of the city wall.
You can walk on the battlements and have a wonderful view over the Kylltal and the landscape.
