Pașcani is a municipality in Iași County, Moldova, Romania, consisting of the component localities Blăgești, Boșteni, Gâștești, Lunca, Pașcani (residence) and Sodomeni. It is the second largest urban center in the county, with a population of 33,745 inhabitants (2011). It is an important railway junction.
The city is located in the northwestern part of the county, in the south of the Suceava Plateau, on the banks of the Siret River. It is crossed by the national road DN28A, which connects it to the east of Târgu Frumos (further to Iași on DN28) and to the west of Moțca (further to Suceava on DN2).
In the municipality of Pașcani is the palace of the Cantacuzino-Pașcanu family (1650, rebuilt in the 18th century), as well as the Church “St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel ”(1664), both historical monuments of architecture of national interest.
Otherwise, four other objectives in the city are included in the list of historical monuments in Iasi County as monuments of local interest. One is the archeological site from Blăgești, located 2 km north-northwest of the village, on the left bank of the Siret, in a bend of the river, a site that includes traces of an Eneolithic settlement (Cucuteni culture, phase A) and one medieval. Another objective is classified as an architectural monument: the railway workshops in Gării Street (1876). The other two are classified as public monuments: the cross of the heroes of the war of independence in the city's cemetery; and the 1907 uprising memorial at the intersection of Park Alley and Republic Street.
