Târgu Frumos is a town in Iași County, Western Moldavia, Romania. Eleven villages were administered by the town until 2004, when they were split off to form Balș, Costești and Ion Neculce communes.
The locality is located in the eastern part of the county, on the banks of Bahluieț. The city is crossed by the national road DN28 that connects Iași with Roman. In Târgu Frumos, from DN28 branch the national roads DN28A, which leads to the west to Pașcani and Moțca (where it ends in DN2), and DN28B which leads to the north to Hârlău and Botoșani. The Pașcani-Iași railway passes through the city. In Târgu Frumos is the residence of Ion Neculce commune, which surrounds the city like a ring.
Six sights in the city of Târgu Frumos are included in the list of historical monuments in Iași County as monuments of local interest. Four of them are classified as architectural monuments: the church "Saint Nicholas" (1801); former girls' school (1842–1859); gara (1870); and the ensemble of the “Pious Paraschiva” church (circa 1541, built by Petru Rareș), consisting of the church itself and the enclosure wall.
The mausoleum of the Romanian soldiers from the First World War, built at the beginning of the 20th century and located in the cemetery, is classified as a public forum monument; and the Garabet Ibrăileanu memorial house (early 20th century) in Cuza Vodă Street is a memorial or funerary monument.
