The beautiful old Museum buildings were created with the help of a German architect after the German excavations of Ancient Olympia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the last century. Today they only contain the small museums about the excavation history and of the Olympic games. The main exhibits were moved to a bigger space in the modern museum across the river nearer to the archaeological sites.
