Nice historical place, totally hidden in the forest.

This cross stone group stands directly on the boundary between Wüstenbuchau and Motschenbach and is therefore also listed under Motschenbach in the literature; this border used to indicate the land holdings between the bishopric of Bamberg's office of Weismain and the aristocratic rulers of Giech-Buchau and was always disputed over the centuries; according to J. B. Müller, Burgkunstadt, a cross stone was placed after each border adjustment. They are to be regarded as landmarks; Cross stones are often referred to as 'light stones' in ancient documents; According to the old law, the Lord of Buchau had to hand over all criminals, all murder victims, suicides and found dead to the episcopal centenary at these cent stones.
Three of the stones date from the 17th century and were brought here from different locations. The rear, transverse stone is older (15th century) and appears to be the original site stone. The term "craftsman stones" is misleading.
