To the west of the state road B47 leading to Katzelsdorf / Reintal stands approx. 4 km outside the village of the gallows of the "Hochgerichtes Böhmischkrut", the only stone algae from the years around 1600 still preserved in the Weinviertel can be seen from afar, has a square base with a side length of approx. 100 cm, whereby the visible base part, which is around 75 cm high, protrudes 10 to 15 cm.

The column is covered with a flat tile gable roof.

The last conviction by the “Böhmischkruter High Court” and the execution of the execution “on the gallows, outside the village” took place on November 8th, 1743:

The local master wagoner Georg Preier, born on December 10, 1697, let his “guild friend” and acquaintance Pokorny, master wagoner from Hianowitz (Janowitz [Janovice]) in Moravia, and his son spend the night in his house.

On the night of June 25, 1743, Michael Pokorny murdered his host and his maid Katharina Ernst in order to get hold of 12 guilders in cash.

After the crime became known, Pokorny was persecuted and arrested in Hianowitz and taken to Böhmischkrut, where he was sentenced to death by the wheel on November 8th.

The execution took place on the same day at the place of execution of the "High Court ze Böhmischkrutt, located on the gallows outside the village, ze Khatzlesdorf".

On the way to the place of execution, his chest was pinched with red-hot pliers at the house of the murdered. The son of the judged, who had to attend the execution, was sentenced to forced labor on (the imperial fortress) Raab for several years.

Extract from the local history, written by Erich Winter

There is more about the different types of execution in the showcases on site.
