    Hiking

The Preaching Cave is the largest of a series of caves on this stretch of coastline and a well-trodden path leads to the entrance. Over the centuries the cave has been used as a school and church. In the 19th century, it was used by worshippers who objected to the practice of a minister being appointed by the local landowner, known as the Disruption of 1843. The cave’s soot-blackened roof is testament to its sustained use through the ages.
