The landmark of the valley village of Lengenfeld unterm Stein is the railway viaduct that spans the village. This viaduct is over 125 years old. The motivation for building the viaduct was once strategic considerations, since after the Franco-German War (1870-1871) the newly won areas should be accessible quickly. For this purpose, the so-called "Kanonenbahn" was originally built for military reasons. On the other hand, the then still very wide-meshed railway network with the Leinefelde / Hessen connection was to be further improved.

The cycle path almost passes it, so it is worth taking a short detour to the bridge.
