La Madre Spring is a year-round spring and the destination for the La Madre Spring trail. There is a concrete dam from the 1960s visible from the trail, but human activity in this area dates far further back to the Paiute people who inhabited this area for thousands of years. Tall grasses, wildflowers, and willows line the banks of the stream, and depending on the time of year, you might see a small waterfall. Birds and other animals rely on this important water source in the desert so you might see some wildlife at this peaceful spot.
