The "climb of champions" dedicated to Charly Gaul starts from the valley floor of the Belbo stream and ends near Pavaglione. Between the latter location and Manera the road becomes more of a slight slope. In total the climb measures 4.7 kilometers and has an average gradient of 7.2%. Charly Gaul was a strong Luxembourg climber of the 1950s: he won the 1956 and 1959 Tours of Italy and the 1958 Tour de France, he was nicknamed "the Angel of the Mountain".

One of the ascents of the champions, the Charly Gaul. Very demanding with some sections even at 14-15% alternating with others where you can (in part) recover. We arrive at the Pavaglione farmhouse where Fenoglio set his novel "La malora".
