The Slime Estuary marks the transition from the Schlei to the Baltic Sea and vice versa. This point is certainly better known to most of you as the mucus mouth. The mainland at this point is called Pilot Island and has a great beach facing the Baltic Sea.Above all, Schlemmünde is characterized by its black and white lighthouse, but normally one always thinks of a red and white appearance when it comes to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is approx. 15 m high, the light point height is exactly 14.84 m. It is officially designated as a control and orientation light for the Schlei-Baltic Sea connection, i.e. the Slime estuary. The international serial number of the lighthouse is C 1186.The Giftbude, a small and cozy restaurant, which can only be reached by sea, is also located in Schlemmünde. The poison booth is even marked on the nautical charts. The name Giftbude comes from the Low German (?): "Door gift dat noch wat". In addition to fish, the "usual suspects" are offered: schnitzel, sour meat, sausages, etc.The pilot island in Schlemmünde can also only be reached by boat, there is no accessible connection to the mainland. There is already a basic land route. However, this leads through the bird sanctuary, which may not be entered.The slime mouth, slime mouth and the pilot island are a destination that you should have visited.
