The first church made of field and lawn iron dates from the 14th century. It burned down in 1619 and the current brick building was built on the remaining foundations in 1650.

The late Baroque German Church right next to it was built between 1690 and 1694. Both churches, the Wendish brick church and the German church are connected to one another by the sacristy on the east gables. In 1709 the brick tower stump got its octagonal tower dome. In the years 1850/1860 the interior of the Wendish church was rebuilt, a barrel vault and the double galleries were drawn in, the "eye" in the east gable, the pulpit altar and an organ were installed. The German Church received an organ and 5 painted windows in 1899. This is how the Wendish-German double church came into being over five centuries.
